Company History
The meeting place of The 3rd Kota Kinabalu Boys' Brigade Company is a former place of The 1st Kota Kinabalu Boys' Brigade Company...It is situated at All Saints' Cathedral, Kota Kinabalu...
The transfer of The 1st Kota Kinabalu Boys' Brigade Company under the sponsorship of Y.M.C.A. (Young Men's Christian Association) to The 3rd Kota Kinabalu Boys' Brigade Company, which is under the sponsorship of All Saints' Cathedral, is due to the reason that it would give better church base...In addition, most of the officers and Boys came from the church...

Due to the fact, the Y.M.C.A. consented at their AGM (Annual General Meeting) in 1977 to transfer the whole membership from The 1st Kota Kinabalu Boys' Brigade Company to 3rd Kota Kinabalu Boys' Brigade Company in 1978 however they insist to retain the sponsorship of The 1st Kota Kinabalu Boys' Brigade Company hoping to start a new group in the near future...
The 3rd Kota Kinabalu Boys' Brigade Company came into being in 1978 with Mr. Anthony Fong as its first Captain...The first Chaplain was Canon Yong Chen Fah...Mr. Anthony Fong left in 1981 and was taken over by Mr. David Liew...He was a local product of The 1st Kota Kinabalu Boys' Brigade Company...He guided the Company until at one time in 1985-1987 it was the Largest Company in Malaysia with a total membership of more than 200 Boys...He also represented the Malaysian BB Contingent to the 1983 Centenary BB International Camp in Durham, Scotland.
In 1988, Mr. David Liew was made Honorary Captain of The 3rd Kota Kinabalu Boys' Brigade Company and this made way for Mr. Kenneth Thien who was also a local product of The 3rd Kota Kinabalu Boys' Brigade Company to take up the Captaincy post...This enable Mr. David Liew to expand his ministry state wide and national wide...This bore fruit when many new companies were set-up in Sabah after 1988 when Mr. David Liew was able to concentrate his work in the District Level...
In April 1989, Mr. Kenneth Thien had to leave for his further job training and Mr. Henry Chin held the Captain post until his appointment of Honorary Captain in 1994...He was subsequently taken over by Mr. Timothy Chung, a former Boy of 1st Sandakan Boys' Brigade Company...However he left one year later in 1995 to continue his master degree in Scotland...This paved the way for Mr. Andrew Chua, the former Captain of 5th Sandakan Boys' Brigade Company who came over to work in Kota Kinabalu to take over in 1995 as the Captain of the company...
After 5 years serving as the Captain, Mr. Andrew Chua was appointed as Honorary Captain and made way for Mr. Foo Ming Chung to take up the Captaincy post in 2000...Mr. Foo Ming Chung is currently The 3rd Kota Kinabalu Boys' Brigade as the Captain until this very day and in fact is presently the longest serving Captain of The 3rd Kota Kinabalu Boys' Brigade Company...
